Shopping for a mortgage can save borrowers substantially over the life of a mortgage. Buyers moving to a new area may find it comfortable to work with a lender they have known in the area they are leaving. A lender unfamiliar with the new area may or may not have some difficulty completing a transaction in a timely manner. However, a long relationship with a lender can also be beneficial. Canadian buyers should strongly consider a local branch of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC also makes loans to US citizens and are competitive.
